BTS's 4th regular Japanese album sold more than 450,000 copies on the day of its release, and recorded the largest sales volume of overseas album in Japan.

According to the agency Big Hit Entertainment on the 16th, BTS's fourth full-length Japanese album "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 ~ THE JOURNEY", released the previous day before, sold a total of 447,869 copies, topping the Oricon daily album chart. With this, BTS will have the most sold overseas artist albums ever released in Japan on the day of release. In addition, the album recorded the highest first-day sales among all albums released in Japan this year.

The agency explained, "It is more than twice the number of 188,000 copies sold on the first day of the 3rd <FACE YOURSELF> released in April 2018."

The album is popular not only in Japan but also in various parts of the world. Shortly after the release, it topped the iTunes “top album” chart in 81 regions including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany and India. Japan's original song “Your Eyes Tell”, which Jungkook participated in, was ranked number one on the iTunes “Top Song” chart in 93 regions. The title song “Stay Gold”, released earlier last month, topped the same chart in 84 regions.

<Map of the Sol: 7 ~The Journey~> is a regular album released by BTS in Japan in 2 years and 3 months. A total of 13 songs including Japanese original songs "On," "Black Swan," "Boy With Luv," "Fake Love" and "Idol."

With its fourth full-length Korean album "Map of the Soul: 7" released in February, BTS also posted a notable sales of 429,000 copies in Japan. The album was recorded as the first overseas singer to top the Oricon first-half album sales since Michael Jackson's "Thriller" in 1984.
