BTS, do they have to go to the army? Will a special exemption be possible?

 

 

Controversy has been raised over the application of military service exceptions by the group BTS, which ranked 1st and 2nd in the US Billboard Chart'Hot 100'. Experts have come up with an opinion to realistically present measures that can delay military service until the early 30s.

 

The Ministry of Defense said, "Currently, we are not considering military service special cases," and the Military Manpower Administration is of the opinion that we should consider postponing military service until the age of 30 for the remarkable record march of BTS.

 

BTS is greatly elevating its national prestige to the point that a report that Korea's economic effect is reaching 6 trillion won a year. Special plans for military service are being proposed to ensure that they can continue their activities in the future.

 

However, the objection is not easy. Because it's not that simple problem. It is difficult to unify a solution as it is an elaborate problem that needs to take into account personality regulation and equity in the pop culture art world as well as in other fields such as sports and classical music.

 

In this regard, this issue arose when the ruling party's highest committee member suggested serious discussions about BTS' military service exceptions. This issue is also being discussed in the National Assembly.

 

If no exceptions apply, Jin, born in 1992, must enlist within 2021, followed by Suga (2022), RM (2023), J-Hope (2023), Jimin (2024), V (2024), and Jung Kook (2026). They must serve in the military in that order.

 

While BTS is writing a new history of KPOP, the Korean government's decision is drawing global attention.
