"Get rid of the content BTS"... China now even conducts education censorship.

Hong Kong's South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported on the 15th (local time) that Chinese university authorities have issued guidelines to "exclude parts related to idol group BTS from lectures."

According to an article titled "What happens when Korea's K-pop meets with the Chinese Communist Party," an assistant professor Jeong at the Sichuan University-Pitsberg Institute, was asked by the university to "exclude BTS-related parts" ahead of a lecture on "soft power of K-pop" at the business school last month. But Jeong rejected the demand and said in an interview, "I was offended that the university tried to censor the lecture and it was based on the nonsense put forward by nationalists. I don't do self-censor," he said.

 

Professor Jeong, who received a Ph.D. in theater and performance from the University of California, said, "While lecturing in China, I often have a chance to discuss taboo through university lectures on modern culture in Korea." He also said his students are very interested in the wide range of controversies, including the Me Too movement and the homosexuality of K-pop bands.

 

Earlier, BTS said in a speech to the person who contributed to the development of friendship between South Korea and the U.S., "This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Korean War, and we should remember the history of hardship that the two countries went through together and the sacrifices of many men and women," which received fierce criticism in China.
