BLACKPINK and TWICE are also popular in the U.S.
"BLACKPINK topped the K-pop fandom's popularity survey of girl groups by age, which was conducted on women aged 13 to 30 living in the U.S.,". Eighty percent of the surveyed users were following BlackPink.
BLACKPINK has surpassed 1.1 billion YouTube views following "DDU-DU DDU-DU" and "Kill This Love," and is ranked second in both the U.S. "Billboard 200" and the U.K.'s "Official Albums" with its first full-length album "THE ALBUM."
Twice, which is followed by 60.6 percent, came in second. They have more than 100 million views (14) of music videos, the most among existing K-pop girl groups, and recorded 100 million views in 276 hours with "I CAN'T STOP ME" released last month. Red Velvet (48.9 percent), Mamamoo (47.6 percent), and ITZY (46.6 percent) ranked fifth, respectively.
Female solo artists are different from girl groups. Chungha, Sunmi and Hyuna are gaining support from 20-something users. "The three solo artists who appeal to each other with a common denominator of charisma and girl crush can be interpreted as being loved by those in their late teens and 20s who want a relatively independent life,".
