BTS has been one of the hottest concerns in the world this year.
Under the title "This Happened 2020," Twitter, a U.S. social media outlet, has concluded tweets and accounts created by Twitter users around the world this year.
BTS ranked sixth in the list of the most-tweeted figures. BTS member Jungkook also ranked second most retweeted with the cover video of "Never Not" posted on Twitter by U.S. singer-songwriter Lauv.
In addition, BTS's official Twitter account has topped this year's most frequently mentioned accounts for four consecutive years since 2017.
Prior to BTS, U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted the most this year, followed by U.S. President-elect Joe Biden, George Floyd, who died of police violence, basketball star Kobe Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash, and former U.S. President Barack Obama.
The most retweeted figure was Chadwick Boseman, the maincharacter of the movie "Black Panther," who died at the age of 43 while battling colon cancer in August.
Reuters said, "This year, Twitter was dominated by Boseman, Trump, and BTS," stressing that "it reflects the success of a Korean singer who topped the Billboard main chart for the first time."
