Changed military service law, postponing BTS 'of course'?

The period of full-fledged activities of the group BTS is expected to increase as the way for outstanding people in the field of pop culture and art to delay their military enlistment until the age of 30.

The agency said on the 22nd regarding the timing of the members' enlistment, "I have nothing to say other than what the artist said."

On the same day, the Ministry of National Defense announced a partial revision bill to the Military Service Act, which adds "excellent people in the field of popular culture and art" to those who can postpone military conscription and call-up. As a result, the duration of the group BTS's full activities could be extended.

The enlistment can be delayed until the age of 30 for "a person recommended by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism that has contributed to the promotion of national prestige among those who received cultural discipline and packaging." It shall take effect six months after publication.

BTS contributed to promoting national prestige by becoming the first Korean singer to top the Billboard Hot 100 and attention is being paid to whether he will be the first Korean singer to win an award at the Grammy Awards next year.

The oldest member of BTS is Jin, who is 28 years old this year. With the revision of the military service law, he can postpone his enlistment until 2022.

Jin said at a press conference for the release of his new song, "As a young man in Korea, enlisting in the military is a natural matter," and "As I said before, there is a call from the country and I will comply at any time." Of course, it has not yet been revealed when it will be.
