BTS was honored with the 'Special International Music Award' at the 62nd Japan Record Awards.
BTS won the Special International Music Award at the 62nd Japan Record Awards, which was broadcast live on TBS on Thursday.
Not only did they become the first winners of this year's new Special International Music Awards, but they were the only foreign artists to win this year's Japan Record Awards.
The "Japan Record Awards" is an annual award ceremony held by the Japanese Composer's Association for selecting singer group albums that have shown outstanding achievements.
The fact that BTS was awarded the new Special International Music Award means that even Japan, which is infested with anti-Korean sentiment, recognized BTS's global status.
In addition, BTS performed two songs, "Dynamite" and "Life Goes on." These two songs have a special meaning for BTS.
"Dynamite" is BTS's first English song and has topped Billboard's main single chart "Hot 100" three times for the first time as a Korean singer. "BE" album, which includes "Life Goes on," also topped Billboard's main album chart, Billboard 200."
"We won the Special International Music Award at the 62nd Japan Record Awards. Thank you very much. This has been a tough year around the world, and music has been a great help. I hope our song can give you a little bit of strength, too.
