JYP expects operating profit of 50 billion won this year

Some predict that JYP Entertainment will perform well this year, with its album sales exceeding 5 million despite the Corona 19 Pandemics. The album released by girl group NiziU last month seems to have played a part in the overseas market, with more than 250,000 sales (platinum).

According to FnGuide on the 18th, JYP Entertainment's operating profit this year is expected to be 55 billion won, exceeding 50 billion won for the first time. The figure is up more than 20 percent from last year's estimate of 45.6 billion won. It is estimated that this year's sales are also estimated to have increased more than 24% year-on-year to 177.3 billion won.

This increase in performance is expected because record sales are steadily increasing. Securities companies believe that record sales in the fourth quarter of last year may have reached a quarterly high. It seems that increase in sales will continue this year.

According to EBest Investment & Securities, sales of JYP Entertainment's albums last year are estimated at 3.62 million units. This year, more than one million copies are expected to be added.

KTB Investment & Securities believes that sales of TWICE's 480,000 albums, GOT7's 340,000 units, and Stray Kids' 200,000 units will hit 1.04 million units (based on Gaon Chart) in the fourth quarter.

In particular, the single album "Step and a Step" released in Japan by girl group NiziU on the 2nd of last month is gaining popularity with sales exceeding 470,000 copies in about a month.

Shares of JYP Entertainment have risen about 7 percent in the last three months. Its sales forecast has been on a steady rise, and some predict that it will surpass 200 billion won next year.

 

Ahn Jin-ah, a researcher at Ebest Investment & Securities, said, "The growth engine this year is global artists and online platforms," adding, "In particular, we expect profits generated from domestic and overseas record and music sales and digital content to drive performance."
