GOT7 Jackson Announces Discontinuation of Cooperation with Adidas

Jackson, a member of the group GOT7, announced the suspension of cooperation with the Adidas Originals brand.

Jackson released a statement on the 25th saying, "We will stop working with the Adidas Originals brand." "The interests of the nation take precedence over everything," Jackson said in a statement. "Our office and Wang Jackson firmly oppose all deceit and malicious acts that fabricate false rumors about China."

Behind Jackson's suspension of cooperation with Adidas was speculation that there was a recent clash between the United States and China over human rights issues in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region in China.

This is because a boycott of global fashion brands has been taking place among Chinese consumers as the European Union, the United States, Britain and Canada have recently publicly opposed the Uighur human rights crackdown in the autonomous region.

While boycotts of H&M, Nike, and Adidas are currently underway in China, Jackson's statement was interpreted as defending China's position.

Jackson made his debut as GOT7 in 2014, but gained huge popularity not only in Korea but also in China. A native of Hong Kong, he has often made public China's position on social networking services (SNS), which emphasizes "one China."

Meanwhile, Jackson was recently selected as a representative model for Shinsegae Duty Free.
