BTS, "Military service is a natural...If we have a call from country, we will respond at any time."

BTS reiterated their intention to fulfill their military service, saying, "As a young Korean, military service is a matter of course."

BTS's eldest brother, Jin, was asked at a press conference held today (20th) at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul about the issue of enlistment being a subject of sharp debate and said, "As we said, we will respond whenever we have a call from country."

Jin said. "I talk to the members often, but we will all comply with military service."

After BTS's latest single, "Dynamite," topped the Billboard main singles chart for the first time as a Korean singer, social controversy arose over their military service.

 

Some argued that they should be able to contribute to the country in a different way as they culturally elevated Korea's status, and the Military Manpower Administration said in a report to the National Assembly's National Defense Commission last month that it is seeking to revise the military service law that calls for delaying the conscription and recruitment of outstanding people in the pop culture and arts sector.

Jin, who was born in 1992 and is the closest member to enlist in the military, said in a press conference in February this year that "military service is a natural obligation."

 

On the other hand, on BTS's involvement in a number of issues, including enlistment as well as the listing of his agency, RM said, "I think it's because we're so loved anyway, just as a popularity is called a tax."

RM responded by saying, "I don't think they're all just and reasonable arguments or events, but I think there's a lot of 'noise' and I'm willing to accept them as part of my destiny because we're loved as singers."
