BlackPink Jennie once again broke the first and best YouTube record as a Korean female solo artist.
According to YG Entertainment on the 15th, Jennie's solo song "SOLO" music video surpassed 600 million views on YouTube at 5:19 a.m. on the same day.
It is very rare for a Korean solo female artist's music video to record hundreds of millions of views, but 600 million views are quite unique. This shows BLACKPINK's global influence and fans' steady love for its member Jennie.
In fact, the music video of "SOLO" exceeded 100 million views in 23 days, 200 million views in 90 days, 300 million views in 182 days, 400 million views in 13 months, and 500 million views in 20 months. Considering that this 600 million views took about 26 months, it can be inferred that the increase in the number of views has not been dampened.
Jennie announced "SOLO" in November 2018 as the first runner of BLACKPINK's solo project. "SOLO" was loved by global fans for its direct and honest lyrics that revealed the beautiful code of the introduction, the simple melody line, and the confident side that is not bound by sadness even after the breakup.
As soon as the song was released, it topped the real-time, daily, and weekly charts of major music charts in Korea and achieved the so-called "Perfect All Kill." She also topped iTunes in 40 countries, becoming the first Korean female solo artist to win the iTunes Worldwide Song Chart and the top 10 iTunes in the U.S.
Black Pink, which Jennie belongs to, produced a total of 25 music videos with more than 1 billion views, including three music videos. In addition, the number of subscribers to BLACKPINK's YouTube channel is overwhelming. It currently has more than 55.6 million subscribers, ranking second among artists worldwide.
