The support of Qatar fans, who celebrate the birthday of group BTS V, is drawing attention as the local media has made headlines.
The Qatar daily "Peninsula" reported in detail on the BTS craze and the birthday support culture of the fandom ARMY in Qatar on the 11th.
Peninsula is a Grammy-nominated Korean boy band that has become an international sensation, introducing BTS to Qatar's devoted fans.
Qatar ARMYs, consisting of fans of different nationalities, have been supporting the group for four years, and recently prepared a historic support to celebrate V's birthday. It is Qatar's first Korean bus birthday advertisement to run from December 27, 2020 to January 27, 2020, ahead of V's birthday.
Peninsula also said in an interview with Qatar's Army, "We take a lot of pride in bus advertising because usually small fan bases (like us) don't carry out these big projects." The project, named "V-Everland," raised funds through cafe cup holders and the sale of souvenirs.
Ahead of V's birthday last year, birthday celebrations were held not only in Korea but also in various cultures where fandom activities are not common.
In Nepal, a country in the Himalayas, a large LED birthday advertisement was placed on the World Trade Center (WTC). It is Nepal's first K-pop idol's birthday ad. V's Nepalese fanbase, Taehyung Nepal, sent V's birthday advertisement on the World Trade Center's 1,800-square-foot super-large outdoor electronic display board in Kathmandu.
In Egypt, the Middle East's first birthday bus, which was rapped with V's photo along the Alexandria beach, appeared.
