Big Hit Entertainment Makes New Start with 'HYBE' in 16 Years

Big Hit Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as Big Hit), which produced BTS, will change its name to "HYBE."

Big Hit held a presentation to announce the brand of the new company through its official YouTube channel on the 19th and explained its new name, corporate vision, and organizational structure changes.

It is the first time in 16 years that Big Hit, which was established as a music agency in February 2005, has changed its name.

The new name will be officially applied after the general shareholders' meeting, which will be held on May 30.

The new name, which took off "Entertainment," aims to create expanded content and services based on music and deliver them to fans.

Chairman Bang Si-hyuk explained the background of Big Hit, saying, "We understand the area of entertainment in a much wider sense than the existing consensus and are conducting various businesses. "feel the need for a new name as a symbol of the structure to connect and expand."

The new name 'Hive' symbolizes the connection, expansion, and relationship of various members, networks, artists, and fans. Big Hit explained, "It is a concept that covers the company's new name, as well as the organization structure, the culture of working, and the direction of the company."

The company's mission will be changed from "music & artist for healing" to "We Believe in music".

"The essence of a company based on music remains the same," Big Hit said. "It aims to convey emotion with music, share good influence, and make changes in life."

Six teams of Big Hit label artists, including ENHYPEN, Seventeen, GFRIEND, NU'EST, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, and BTS, unveiled an omnibus-style "campaign film" the previous day under the theme of "What We Believe" ahead of the release of the new name.

Big Hit, the foundation of the company and a music label that includes BTS and Tomorrow by Together, will continue under the name of "Big Hit Music."

Big Hit clearly established the organizational structure of three axes, label, solution, and platform, in line with its new corporate identity.
