German broadcaster has apologized for BTS has being racism by a German radio host. However, the controversy has still not subsided by using an apology to the effect of defending the situation, such as "the host did not intend it at all."

Matthias Matuschik, the host of German radio Bavaria 3, criticized BTS's MTV Unplugged performance on the 25th (Korea time).

MTV Unplugged is an acoustic sound-based live program on MTV that specializes in American music. Legendary musicians such as Nirvana, Bob Dylan, and Oasis stood on the stage. BTS performed for the first time as a Korean singer on the MTV Unplugged stage that aired on the 24th.

Matusik called BTS's singing of Coldplay's "Fix You" a "divine insult." "Because of this, you will spend your vacation in North Korea for the next 20 years," he said.

"BTS" is the same abbreviation as "Covid-19". "We need a vaccine to heal them," he said.

Matusik said, "I don't have any bad feelings toward Korea." "Just because a boy band is from Korea, I can't say I have Xenophobia," he said. "I already have a very nice car from Korea." However, BTS actually appeared on MTV Unplugged. It is paradoxical that the boy band appeared in "Unplugged" .

As the German broadcaster's racist comments spread, the BTS fandom "A.R.M.Y" expressed immediate anger. They strongly protested against the remarks that could not be thought of as coming from the broadcaster's mouth, including the expression of the stage already supported by the original author as "divine blasphemy" and the expression of BTS as coronavirus.

ARMY announced the host's racist remarks with hashtags such as #RassismusBeiBayern3, #Bayern3Racist through Twitter and other SNS, and protested Mitusik's remarks with the German phrase "Wirsind gegen Rassismus" and demanded an apology.

As controversy flared up, Bayern 3 issued an apology on its website. "Mattusik just expressed his personal opinion about BTS' cover of Fix You," Bayern 3 said. "But We sincerely apologize that many people think his remarks are racist.

However, the production team used expressions such as "He (Matushik) did not intend it at all," and "It is the nature of the program that the host expresses his opinion clearly and honestly," to defend racial discrimination.
